Fourvière, the soul of Lyon

Fourvière has always been the sacred hill where people prayed, whether they were Gauls, Romans or Christians. In the 12th century, the latter erected a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
Thanks to her intercession, the Prussians did not invade the city in 1870. As a way of showing their gratitude, the Lyonnais had that strikingly white basilica built, which has ever since been the soul of Lyon.

Let’s go on a mystical peregrination with, as a bonus, a breathtaking panoramic view over the city that will allow you to take your bearings & understand how Lyon has been evolving in the course of time. You are going to be dazzled!
